For an adult in Skopje, getting to a language school twice a week means leaving work early, sitting in traffic, finding parking, and getting home late. That is roughly two hours spent on a 90-minute class. Online, the class costs you the hour it lasts.
I am in Skopje, and many of my students are too, but online classes mean location stops mattering. I teach people across Macedonia and Macedonians living abroad who want to study with someone who explains things in their own language when it helps.
You need to be able to answer a video call. That is genuinely the whole requirement. I send a link, you tap it, and we are in the class. If the first attempt is awkward we sort it out together in the first few minutes, and it never comes up again.
Some people are, at first. What fixes it is treating the class as a real appointment: a door closed, a phone face down, an hour that belongs to you. Most students find home easier to concentrate in than a classroom once they have done it a few times.
In an individual class you are face to face. You are looking at one person who is looking back at you and listening to every word you say. What you lose against a physical classroom is the room, and in a one-to-one lesson the room was never doing the teaching.
For individual classes, yes. Everything that matters in a one-to-one lesson happens in conversation, and conversation works the same on a video call. What you lose is the travelling. What you gain is the time back and a class that can be rescheduled without anyone crossing the city.
Google Meet. I send you a link and you click it. There is nothing to install and no account to create, which matters because the first class should not begin with a technical problem.
Yes. Because the classes are online I teach people anywhere in Macedonia and abroad. Several of my students are Macedonians living in other countries who want lessons in their own time zone.
It happens and it is not a problem. We reconnect, and if a class is genuinely cut short we make the time up. You are paying for the hour of teaching, not for the calendar slot.
