Lake Matka is considered to be the oldest artificial lake in the country. The area is famous for its large number of endemic species, which make it truly unique.

There are boat trips that will take you to nearby caves. In fact, there are around 10 caves in the area, and the most famous one is Vrelo Cave, which is listed among the top 77 natural sites in the world.

There are many activities you can enjoy in Matka. You can take a boat trip, swim in the lake, go fishing, or, if you enjoy hiking or climbing, visit during the climbing season, which usually starts around Easter and lasts until November.
