Balkans Itinerary: Your Route, Planned for You
A trip through the Balkans is several countries in a few hundred kilometres, and the hard part is the order: which border, which bus, which town deserves a night.
I live in Skopje, in the middle of the region, and I plan the route for you, around how many days you have and how you like to travel.
You get one guide with the whole journey: the route, the stops, the transport between them and the places to eat and stay.
Fee: €80
What your route can cover
- Macedonia: Skopje, Matka Canyon and Lake Ohrid
- Albania's old towns and coast, an easy crossing from Ohrid
- Serbia: Belgrade and Novi Sad
- Montenegro, Bulgaria and northern Greece, as the route allows
Planning a Balkans trip
How many days do I need for the Balkans?
A week covers two or three countries comfortably. Ten days to two weeks let you add the coast or a mountain stop without spending every day on a bus. I build the route around the days you have.
Bus, train or car?
Buses connect most cities and are the usual way to travel. Trains are few and slow. A car gives the most freedom, but taking a rental across a border needs checking in advance, and the guide covers it.
Which order works best?
It depends on where you fly in and out. Arriving in one city and leaving from another often saves a day of backtracking, and that is the first thing I plan.

Frequently asked questions
Can you plan a Balkans itinerary for me?
Yes. Tell me where you fly in, how many days you have and what you enjoy, and I plan the route as a day-by-day PDF guide for €80.
Do I need different currencies?
Usually, yes: the denar, the lek, the dinar and the euro can all appear on one route. The guide notes what each country uses and where cards work.
Is it easy to cross the borders?
Mostly, yes. Bring your passport and check the entry rules for your nationality. Summer queues can be long, so I plan the crossings for sensible times of day.
Does one guide cover several countries?
Yes. One guide covers the whole route, from the first city to the last.
